A World Health Organisation(WHO) reports says, every year air pollution from various sources like coal, oil and gases kills nearly 10 million people worldwide. This report also shows, 98% of the world population is living in places where air quality exceeds limits of WHO guidelinesBreathing in this highly polluted environment is major cause of many lungs and heart related diseases. In 2020, India had 46 of the world's 100 most polluted cities, followed by China (38), Pakistan (6), Bangladesh (4), Turkey(2), Brazil(2), Indonesia (1), and Thailand (1). All these cities had a PM2.5 of more than 50 times than level acceptable. New Delhi's have PM2.5 particles, which damage lungs, is 33 times the World Health Organization's (WHO) acceptable levels. 9 out of the ten the most polluted cities are of India. 

Some actions you can take to help reduce pollution.

  • Buy less online
  • Using public transports or walk or bicycle
  • Turn off the lights when not in use
  • Reduce, Recycle and Reuse
  • Reduce use of wood burning or fossil fuels consumption
  • Use of fans instead of Air Conditioner
  • Avoid usage of firecrackers
  • Plant trees
