Homunculus - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
"In FMA mythos, the term "homunculus" or "homunkurusu", Latin "Little Human" and the Japanese "Artificial Human," refers to the legendary creation of a human being through alchemy in the Middle Ages. Homunculi are defined as "Any human that was created or re-created by any Alchemy, Alkahestry, Grand Arcanum, and any other form of Alchemy" in the television series. "
Although the concept of the Homunculus is widely accepted and well-understood by alchemists in Amestris, no individual or group of alchemists has ever come close to successfully creating such a being in historically accepted records. Like many FMA characters, homunculi have that in them.
There is 8 total homunculus in the series, with seven being seven deadly sins and one who is the creator, thus called father. Homunculi generally hold the belief that they are superior to all other living things, including humans, in addition to the primary emotion or desire they embody. This is the psychological result of their birthright superpowers. Many Homunculi even harbour animosity toward humans. Out of all the Homunculi, sadistic Envy is the one who despises them the most and treats them with the deepest bitterness, while Pride has the worst animosity, contempt, and prejudice toward people. Although it's unclear what Greed really thought of humans prior to bonding with Ling Yao, he is the only Homunculus who does not openly hate humans in any way. No need to say but Fullmetal Alchemist characters are total metal and extreme.
Here starts a List of all 8 homunculi and their power and their ironic death(how they died).
Gluttony
One of the three Homunculi that viewers are first introduced to in the series is gluttony, and to his credit, he lasts for a number of seasons before dying. He possesses a variety of useful abilities, such as regeneration, enhanced senses, the capacity to consume and digest just about anything, as well as an internal "Gate of Truth". Even though Gluttony is one of the more powerful Homunculi due to his many abilities, his childlike character keeps him from realising his full potential. Gluttony doesn't just seem to care about his siblings, which Pride and Wrath undoubtedly don't, he also doesn't seem to fully comprehend their goals or their distaste for humans.
Gluttony's only desire is to devour whatever is in front of him, and because of his lack of restraint and empathy for the other people, he is less potent in comparison. In fact, Pride ultimately kills him because of his lack of suspicion toward his own siblings.
Gluttony’s Death
Pride ate Gluttony whole.
Sloth
Sloth is one of the least interesting Homunculi we encounter in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which may be expected given the deadly sin he is based on. His character is exactly what one would anticipate it to be: He mainly complains when he has work to do. Even though Sloth isn't the most entertaining Homunculus, he does have impressive physical strength, and when he decides to do something, the results are usually horrifying. Sloth can fairly easily break through metal and stone, which naturally means he can easily crush people with little to no effort. The Armstrong siblings find out when they take him on that he's also surprisingly quick when he needs to be.
Sloth’s Death
Sloth dies from overusing his Philosopher's Stone during his fight with Sig and Izumi Curtis, Alex and Olivier Mira Armstrong, and Sloth.
Greed
In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the majority of the Homunculi we encounter are committed to carrying out Father's plans for global dominance, but Greed deviates from this goal to further his own agenda. Greed is a dangerous adversary because of his cunning and his lack of concern for whose side he really supports.
Greed’s Death
When greed realised what he really wanted, a power-hungry father killed him. While expressing satisfaction with what he has, he also gives his life in order to make Father more vulnerable in the decisive battle. He is also killed by molten gold in his first, brief demise.
Lust
It would be simple to dismiss Lust as one of the weaker Homunculi given her laid-back attitude and propensity to arrive smiling, but doing so would be a grave error. At the start of the series, Lust is in charge of the three main Homunculi, and she undoubtedly has the intelligence to rule the others. She has the two traits that make a villain strong: charm and cunning.
Lust’s Death
Father is the original Homunculus, and Hohenheim released him without realising what he was releasing into the world. Father was imprisoned inside a flask for years. When Father is set free, he embarks on a mission to grow stronger than God, a goal he almost achieves. Nothing will show how strong he is more than that.
Wrath
Given that King Bradley is introduced as one of the most powerful men in the nation, both in terms of status and combat strength, the twist that he is actually the Homunculus Wrath already raises fans' expectations for the villain. And taking into account his position, Wrath may even move up this list, as his position as King of Amestris gives him control over armies that wouldn't typically pick up their weapons for a Homunculus.
Wrath’s Death
Scar, who was once vengeful, dismembered Wrath, who then passed away peacefully while grinning.
Envy
Despite Envy's lighthearted nature, the Elric brothers in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood encounter them as one of the more dangerous Homunculi. Envy can shape-shift, which allows them to deceive many of their victims into believing they are trustworthy before killing them, including Maes Hughes. And if you thought Envy's human form was challenging, wait until you see the chimeric form they later reveal. Envy appears as a dinosaur- or dragon-like creature that can stomp on anyone who stands in their way. Envy can control the human souls in this form, which is composed of human souls as well, to attack foes. Envy is the Homunculus with the greatest number of abilities that are unique to them, and they make good use of all of those skills.
Envy’s Death
Because of their self-hatred and jealousy, envy commits suicide (Defeated by Riza Hawkeye and Roy Mustang together)
Pride
Pride is the first Homunculus Father created, and for the majority of the series, he assumes the identity of King Bradley's son to deceive people into thinking he is a good and innocent man. When he does, however, reveal his abilities, it quickly becomes apparent that he is extremely dangerous, which explains why he is portrayed as Father's favourite child.
Pride has the power to control shadows, enlarging and moulding the darkness to fulfil his wishes. Additionally, Pride has the ability to command shadows that can spread out to engulf an entire city. Even if Pride's darkness has a maximum range, that's still quite remarkable. Pride is practically omnipresent because he can see and communicate through the eyes that hide his shadows. In order to use the darkness as a weapon, he can also shape it, giving it the appearance of tentacles or sharpening it.
Pride’s Death
Edward, whose primary characteristic is ego, was able to defeat Pride and save him, but at the cost of robbing him of his strength and turning him into one of the creatures he thought to be beneath him.
Father
Father is the original Homunculus, and Hohenheim released him without realising what he was releasing into the world. Father was imprisoned inside a flask for years. When Father is set free, he embarks on a mission to grow stronger than God, a goal he almost achieves. Nothing will show how strong he is more than that. "Father," also known as Ot-sama, is the main antagonist of the show and the designer of other homunculi. He was first known as "The Dwarf in the Flask" (Furasuko no Naka no Kobito) or "Homunculus" (Homunkurusu), a shape-shifting creature with cyclops-like characteristics that was created eight centuries ago in the country of Cselkcess or Kuserukusesu, "Xerxes," on the king's orders to amass infinite knowledge. Homunculus, unable to survive outside of his flask, formed a bond with the young slave boy whose blood had been used in his creation. In order to help the child advance in Cselkcesian society, he gave him the name Van Hohenheim.
Father’s Death
He gave each Homunculus a name based on one of The Seven Deadly Sins, which are all sins committed by humans. Anger, gluttony, lust, envy, greed, arrogance, and sloth. Because he created all the homunculi, he was referred to as Father. Later, he sought after divine power. The sin of lust and greed eventually overcame him, and he died. God cast him out into "the dead realm."
